Tomáš Turek – Photo-healing

Head, shoulders, knees, toes. Everyone heals their own thing: one like this, another like that, one here, another there. In Piešťany, the cures are spa treatments and mud, as well as the holiday pace, the calm, and slowness. It’s dead elsewhere, but Piešťany moves—more slowly, in the typical rhythm of a spa town. A rhythm set by nostalgia, old-world charm, the grace of an older lady. A gentle whiff of mothballs, a touch of faded glory, and a hint of elegance. And along with it, the lipstick on the teeth that we so gladly and willingly overlook. This is how Tomáš Turek sought healing through photography in the spa, with Vladimír Marhefka humbly conducting the exhibition. The exhibition is installed in the Street Gallery Vitrínky on Kollárova Street.
