FILMEU – WIRE: Artistic Research and Artistic Creation

In recent years, artistic research has become one of the most frequently discussed concepts at art universities, as it increasingly shapes their research activities. But what lies behind this connection of art and research? Can artistic research be separated from art theory? How does the scientific approach differ from the non-scientific one? Can artistic research also be understood as a new form of creation that defines itself in opposition to the commercialization of art? The basic principles, concepts, and definitions of artistic research will be presented by Katarína Mišíková from the Department of Film Studies at the Film and Television Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava.
