Explanation for Everything

High school student Ábel is struggling to prepare for his school-leaving exams while coming to terms with his hopeless infatuation for his best friend Janka. Clever Janka, however, has her own object of unrequited love: a married history teacher, Jakab, who recently clashed with Ábel’s conservative father. The tension in Hungary’s polarized society unexpectedly comes to the surface when Ábel’s history exam turns into a nationwide scandal. The rift in Hungarian society has been palpable for years, affecting not only politics but also everyday interpersonal relationships on the street.
