Meeting Point Europe

Cinematik comes with a unique and original concept for its competitive section. In the main competition, entitled Meeting Point Europe, we screen a collection of the best European films made in 2018 and 2019, based on the votes of European film critics.

Under the auspices of the International Federation of Film Critics FIPRESCI

The competitive section is the showcase of each and every film festival. Cinematik comes with a unique and original concept for its competitive section. In the main competition, entitled Meeting Point Europe, we screen a collection of the best European films made in 2018 and 2019, based on the votes of European film critics.

It is an original concept of arranging a competitive section, since the films in the final selection have been chosen by a panel of film critics from 16 European countries (Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Montenegro, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia and United Kingdom). The final selection of films reflects the subjective views of European film critics on European cinema, while considering current trends on the levels of national and world cinema. However, the only relevant criteria are the artistic quality and the intensity of personal auteur expression.

The film critics made their own, personal “best of” lists of European films made in 2018 and 2019. They assigned points to every film and the selection of the best films from the voting will be screened at the festival within the Meeting Point Europe competitive section. At the end of the festival, the film with the most points will be announced as the winning picture and awarded the main prize of the festival—the Meeting Point Europe Award.
