Respect20

The 20th edition of the film festival feels like the right time to take a look back. Some of our programme sections have gradually evolved, some have been dropped, others added. The retrospective section Respect has been part of Cinematik since the very beginning. Every year, we present a profile of a significant director, show our respect, and more than once we’ve introduced them to you before they rose to stardom. Jacques Tati, Carlos Saura, Ventura Pons, François Ozon, Nicolas Winding Refn, Jacques Audiard, Leos Carax, Ben Wheatley, Gustave de Kervern and Benoît Delépine, Jaime Rosales, Wim Wenders, Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne, Joachim Trier, João Pedro Rodrigues, Wojciech Smarzowski, Ildikó Enyedi, Lucile Hadžihalilović, Jessica Hausner and Radu Jude. This time, we are making an exception by presenting to you a kind of “meta” programme section—Respect20: a selection of the latest films by directors whose retrospectives Cinematik has presented to you, our dear audience, over the years.
