The Whale

Darren Aronofsky

Brendan Fraser’s famous comeback as a 600-pound lonely teacher trying to rebuild a relationship with his estranged teenage daughter. Charlie teaches an online stylistics course at the university. He tries to teach his students to write clearly and persuasively. It’s the only way they can effectively communicate their ideas to others. He wants them to be honest and authentic. He can see his students in his notebook, but they cannot see him. He makes excuses for a broken camera, but he doesn’t really want them to see him. After all, he weighs almost 600 pounds, is lonely, and under the weight of his own traumas, is struggling to come to terms with his past.
