The Beasts

Rodrigo Sorogoyen

Antoine and Olga are a French couple that settled down, some time ago, in a small village, in inland Galicia (Spain). There, they lead a peaceful life, although coexisting with the local people isn’t as idyllic as they would like. A conflict with their neighbors, the Anta brothers, breaks out whereby tension will grow throughout the hamlet until it reaches a point of no return. The dream of a new life turns into hell, and the French couple is met with resentment, xenophobia, and a stream of unrelenting hostility. Extremely precise film language, script, and acting performances offer a rich range of emotions and even a symbolic animal grip of the characters in an impossible situation.
