American suburbs in the 1990s. Stevie—a thirteen-year-old boy—lives here with his mother and his aggressive brother. He longs for nothing less than running away, so he gets a skateboard and joins a group of skaters. His new friends help him overcome his sad reality. He experiences his first joys and sorrows of growing up with them.
