The Secret Agent

In 1977, a tech expert runs away from his mysterious past and goes back to his hometown of Recife to find some peace. But he soon realizes that the city is far from the safe place he’s looking for. A large part of the script for the film The Secret Agent was written by Kleber Mendonça Filho in a small office at the Utopia cinema in Bordeaux, France. The atmosphere of the cinema itself seems to have had a significant influence on the exceptional quality of this work. The film received a 13-minute standing ovation at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival and became one of the most talked-about titles in the program. We believe that it will be no different at Cinematik.
