Cinema ClubThe Charwoman is an intimate portrait of a woman who, despite adversity, refuses to give up control of her life. Ivona lives in a village. Her unemployment does not discourage her—she accepts any opportunity, whether it is manual work, part-time work, or helping acquaintances. She fills her days with duties that others would consider insignificant, but for her, they represent a way to maintain her dignity and sense of meaning. The camera sensitively follows her everyday life—work, moments of silence at home, conversations with family and friends. Off-camera interview and the image intertwine, revealing her thoughts and inner world. Despite visible determination and modesty, the question arises: can a person be satisfied with their life even if their dreams do not come true, or when unexpected moments come that change their life? The film seeks the answer in the small gestures and unspoken thoughts that form the essence of Ivona’s days.
