DOX IN VITRO – THE 10TH EDITION

Talent development seminar established in 2010 conceived for documentary projects that seek to explore new visions of what a documentary can be in the digital age.

The workshop will focus on the development of documentary projects “in the test tube” under the guidance of experienced tutors and emphasise the role of and need for co-productions in today’s documentary sector.

WHO IS DIV FOR?
DIV is aimed at young producers, documentary filmmakers, directors and film professionals, who will be introduced to the “real world” of the European film market of documentary films.

PROGRAMME
Two days to work with international experts and exchange ideas, to take inspiration from one another, in total freedom and with no competitive element weighing in. To build new collaborations. To share experience and artistic visions.

For industry professionals, DIV is a unique occasion to take part as observers, to have a direct discussion with those who will make the documentary of today and tomorrow.

For the registered participants, there will be a wide programme consisting of presentations, case studies, plenary discussions, one-to-one meetings and pitches.

DIV is the ideal space for professionals to share, discover, socialise, connect and be inspired…

EXPERTS

OVE RISHØJ JENSEN (Denmark)
Producer, consultant
Ove has been with EDN since 2003 and runs various documentary screenings, workshops, seminars, master classes and also participates in the selection of projects for workshops and pitching sessions. Ove has programmed and/or produced a number of events like The Greek Documentary Lab, New Platforms – New Politics, Twelve for the Future and lately also EDN’s market activities at European Film Market, Sunny Side of the Doc and MIPDOC. In addition he has collaborated with a number of documentary organisations and festivals with tailor making master classes, seminars and workshops for special events and occasions.

MILA TURAJLIC (Serbia)
Documentary filmmaker
Mila Turajlic was born in Belgrade, Yugoslavia. Her most recent film The Other Side of Everything premiered at the Toronto IFF in 2017, and went on to win 20 awards including the prestigious IDFA Award for Best Documentary Film. The film was HBO Europe’s first co-production with Serbia, and had a record-breaking theatrical release in Serbia.

Erik BÄFVING (Sweden) tbc
Director, editor
Erik Bäfving was born in Malmo, Sweden. He has been working as a director and editor since 1996. In 2002 his short film Boogie Woogie Daddy recieved several international awards and was nominated for a Guldbagge (the annual Swedish film prize) for best documentary. The film was followed by Get busy, a documentary for cinema, also nominated for a Guldbagge for best documentary. In addition to directing documentaries he is working as a narrative consultant and editor for both documentary and feature films.

ONDREJ STARINSKÝ (Slovakia)
Radio and Television of Slovakia
Head of documentary and educational department at Radio and Television of Slovakia
He studied Film Theory at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava (graduated in 2005). Since then he worked in PR, production, programming for several Slovak film festivals (IFF Bratislava, Art Film Fest Košice, Mffk Febiofest, 4 elements film seminar in Banská Štiavnica). Starinsky also worked for the Open Society Foundation (NOS – OSF), where he organized the country-wide “Journalism Award. Since October 2016 he is the head of documentary and educational department at Radio and Television of Slovakia.
